Someone wrote to me about how the person’s very nice love filled relationship was destroyed through an addiction to pornography.  The person then asked me if I would not write something about this matter/subject.

This is how I see this problem through the guidance of our Lord’s Holy Spirit:

If I look at the letters that I receive and also listen to the people around me, this addiction is occurs mostly with men but it does not just apply to men.

Pornography is an addiction and just with any addiction, it becomes, “hoe later hoe kwater” – an Afrikaans idiom, meaning the longer you leave it the more difficult it becomes to end it and you search more and more but you do not just search more and more, the anaesthesia must also get stronger and stronger.
A number of ladies have also written to me and I remember while I sit here and write even one instance just recently, where the lady was so desperate to request guidance from me that she phoned.  Because the addiction was driving her to more and more and heavier and heavier stimulation, leading to in very many instances to all sorts of sick sexual behaviours like for example, of which I know of such as, violent sex, where the one person must allow the other to sometimes perform sick terrible things and then pornographic addiction can lead to rape.

People who are addicted to pornography, can later not have true loving sexual relationships with his/her life partner, like that which our Lord meant us to practice.

What does the Word say about pornography?
Pornography can according to what I know about it cannot measure up to what our Lord has laid out in His Word for a child of our Lord.

PHIL 4:7  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
PHIL 4:8  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Pornography’s great driving point in a person with this addiction is “lust”.
The word says, amongst other things, about “lust” the following – and I quote here from the ‘New Living Translation’ (NLT).

JOB 31:11  For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished.
JOB 31:12  It is a fire that burns all the way to hell. It would wipe out everything I own.

The following is from the New International Version (NIV)

JOB 31:11  For that would have been wicked, a sin to be judged.
JOB 31:12  It is a fire that burns to Destruction; it would have uprooted my harvest.

I am now going to make an intense/strong statement but this is how I understand the Word.
Someone who has a weakness for pornography, or is already addicted and does nothing or does not want to do anything about it, is still certainly not saved yet.

1 THES 4:7  For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
1 THES 4:8  Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Now I want to say to those people who are already mixed up with pornography and wants to rid themselves of that – In other words I am now speaking to those people who are hearing our Lord’s voice that speaks to them from their hearts:
“It is wrong, leave it alone.”

The first piece of truth that I want to share with you is that no matter how terrible our sin is, Jesus has already paid for it.

ISA 53:5  But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Through all of this He knows exactly how you are being tempted and how difficult it is for you to rid yourself of this addiction.

HEB 4:15  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Then you must clearly understand one thing.
You must immediately begin working on your personal/intimate loving relationship with Jesus, because without Jesus, you are fighting a losing battle.

JOHN 15:4  Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
JOHN 15:5  “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

The first thing that you as a child of our Lord must do to correct your relationship with Him, is to confess your pornography sin that is in your life, because He allowed the following to be written in His Word for us.

1 JOHN 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Just before I share with you the resources that I have found that you can use to help yourself, from your side, remove the addiction from your life is this.
Remember every time that satan fires this sick, terrible arrow towards you.

1 COR 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Then you rebuke satan in the Name of Jesus, through saying:
“I rebuke you satan in the Name of Jesus.”
Then you quote allowed and let our Lord smile:

PHI 4:13  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

I personally did not research these resources because JAWS and myself, JAWS is the program that allows my computer to communicate with me, as a team we are not very good on the internet.  This is because I am not knowledgeable when it comes to the internet.

If you install that program on your computer, the program sort of keeps an eye on you and sends all the information for undesirable websites that you have visited to an email address that you have given it while you installed the program.  For example your Minister/Reverend or your life partner.

Even if you do not install the program, you must not forget that our Lord sees all the internet websites you visit.
