DO YOU WANT GOD’S FIRE TO BURN BRIGHTLY ON THE HEARTH OF YOUR HEART? – PART 1 OF 2

DO YOU WANT GOD’S FIRE TO BURN BRIGHTLY ON THE HEARTH OF YOUR HEART?  – Part 1 of 2

Sakkie Parsons

Translated from Afrikaans: Wil jy hê dat God se vuur helder moet brand op die vuurherd van jou hart – Deel 1
Translator:  Robin Barker

Someone sent me the following great truth and so I thought that there are two great things from the past which I must work on, if I want our Lord’s fire to burn brightly within my heart.

I share now with you the first thing which I believe we must do and within the next days I will share with you the second thing which we must do, so that our Lord’s fire will burn high and brightly in our hearts.

The following was sent to me:

“Do you want God’s fire to burn brightly on the hearth of your heart?
“Then scrape yesterday’s ash out.”

Then the thoughts which rose within my heart, together with the following verses from our Lord’s wonderful Word, about the first thing that we must do to get rid of (remove) the ash from the past, so that His fire can burn brightly and high in our hearts.

To allow God’s fire to burn brightly in my heart I must first scrape the ash, which is my remorse, about the wrong I have done in the past in my life and once and for all throw it away.

How do I do this?
Let us read what the Word tells us:

1JOHN 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

When I confess my sin, or the wrong in my life, and truly and in all sincerity repent before our Lord, I have this wonderful peace and a joyful knowledge that, according to our Lord, it no longer exists.

ISAIAH 1:18   Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord.  “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Now our Lord has forgiven me – Now I must forgive myself.

How do I do this?
Look at how the man who was the greatest persecutor and murderer of Christians in his time did it.
Paul writes:

PHIL 3:13-14
13 But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

In closing I want to show you, why it worked for Paul and why it worked for me.

You must do this, in all truthfulness, with total commitment, at the feet of Jesus.

Let me show you one of the, which is for me a beautiful example from the Word, someone, according to people’s standards, who had a very bad, sinful life and who at the feet of

Jesus did what I have shown you above.

It is a lengthy section, so I am only going to give you the part which I think is relevant to my writing but you can read the full section starting at LUKE 7:36.

LUKE 7:44-47
44  Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
45  You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.
46  You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet.
47  Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

Everyone who surrenders completely, will also truly understand and experience what Jesus says to us in JOHN 14:27:

JOHN 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

So child of God –

Forget that what has happened in the past and take strength from what lies ahead.
Because what is in the past, is in the past, but your future stretches before you until eternity in Heaven.

Greetings,
Sakkie
