WHAT MUST I DO WHEN SATAN ATTACK ME? – THE WORD OF GOD IS YOUR WEAPON

WHAT MUST I DO WHEN SATAN ATTACK ME? – THE WORD OF GOD IS YOUR WEAPON

Sakkie Parsons

Translated from Afrikaans:  “Wat maak ek as satan my aanval? – Die Woord van God is jou wapen.”

Someone wrote to me and said that when she looks at all the evil around us, a great fear comes over her.

Of course, I'm not saying that we should be indifferent to the things that are happening around us, but I do say with certainty that we do not have to and should not walk around with fear in our hearts.
In this regard, our Lord had written to us in His Word:

2TIM 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

So, if satan attack you again with fear or anything else – you only do in the Name of Jesus what Jesus himself did and set an example for us:

You quote the Word of GOD for satan.

For example, tell him something like:

“In the name of Jesus satan, it is written, that my Jesus said:
John 14:26  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
"So, satan, I rebuke you in the Name of Jesus – go away from me."

Do it in faith – and you will feel that wonderful spiritual hop, skip and jump come back in your life.

Here is the section in the Word where Jesus set the example how to deal with satan's attacks – but this is the kind of thing you can only do if you regularly read the Word and keep it well in your heart.

MAT 4:2-11
2  And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3  And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread."
4  But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
5  Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple
6  and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,' and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"
7  Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
8  Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9  And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me."
10  Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"
11  Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

The reason why Jesus, in my opinion, show us that we can keep satan away from us with this tactic, to put it this way , is of course obvious according to the Word:

Because you see the Word / Bible is the child of God's weapon against evil.

When my great hero Paul tells us in Ephesians 6: 13-17 what our uniform should look like as we go through life and we do not want to be overwhelmed by satan and his henchmen, he write, among other things:

EPH 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

The author of the book of Hebrews write for example:
(whom I personally believe was Paul if I look at the style of writing)

HEB 4:12  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

We speak of the Bible as the Word of God and we read in this Word of God, that this Word is our Sword / Weapon against evil.

Just to underline what I have just shown you, I read in Revelation, where Jesus is described, among other things, and now remember when you read it – the Bible is "the Word, or the words of God." And according to the Word, the Word is your and my Weapon / Sword.

REV 1:16  In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.

I will probably never be able to emphasize enough about how important it is that a child of our Lord should have a good, very, very good knowledge of the Word.

Remember, satan also know the Word.

Unfortunately he knows it as good as many of us and sadly – better than most of us – for satan even became involved in, so to speak, a sword fight with the Word against Jesus. (As you have read the section above Matthew 4:2-11)

Why do you think the Word /Bible are one of the books that many Christians read much less than, for example, many other reading material?

This, in my opinion, is satan trying to quench their desire for the Word with all sorts of other things and they fall for his "trick" and become his willing prey.

Because, satan know –

The less you practice with your sword – the Word – the weaker your readiness when he storm at you.

This, in my opinion, is also the reason why satan, you might say, is messing with so many Christians. They – because of their own indifference to being spiritually prepared – are completely defenceless against satan's attacks.

Most of many Christians are not only untrained with the Christian’s Sword, many Christians have been totally disarmed by satan.

HOS 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; ..

Sakkie
