WILL I BE THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN WHEN I’M THERE?

WILL I BE THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN WHEN I’M THERE?

Sakkie Parsons

Translated from Afrikaans: “ Sal ek uit die Hemel gegooi word wanneer ek daar is?”

Someone wrote to me and ask the following and I give a shortened version of the person’s question to me:

“I want to know when I go to Heaven, can I be thrown out of Heaven? It’s now after I gave my life to God. My body is now buried and I live in heaven. All the reason I ask – the devil was an angel and was cast out of Heaven.”

In the person’s writing to me, it came down to this: If satan, who was a cherub, could have sinned in Heaven, why wouldn’t the desire to sin occur to me as well?

Here then is how I understand this question’s answer in my heart from the Word:

First I have to realize what or who satan was in Heaven, and then of course I also have to know, to put it this way, who and what I will be in Heaven.

Let’s quickly see what the Word says about satan and who or what he was in Heaven.

The passage from Ezekiel 28:13-15, which I am now going to quote from the Word and apply to satan, actually originally applied to the king of Tyre. However, I am of the opinion that the same kind of symbolism applies here as we see in Matthew 2:14-15 which refers to Hosea 11:1 . Especially when you remember that the king of Tire could not have been in the Garden of Eden, for example. We read in Matthew 2:14-15 the following:

MAT 2:14-15

14So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt. 15He remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet [Hosea]: “OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON.”

We read in Hosea 11:1

HOSEA 11:1 God Is The Loving Father Of His People

1When Israel was a child [a young nation], I loved him,
And I called My son out of Egypt.

In Hosea 11:1 we read of Israel, the disobedient, imperfect child and in Matthew 2:15 we read of Jesus, the obedient, perfect child.

Back to our question about whether I will be able to, or naturally want to, sin in Heaven. Who and/or what is satan?

Satan – as I understand it from the Word – was created as a cherub. Satan was not created in the image of God like you and me to begin with. Cherubim are also, as I understand it from the Word, of the highest type of angels, or if you want; the highest type of Heavenly beings among the angels in Heaven. But this ‘went to his head’ (made him too proud) and then he was thrown out of Heaven.

I would like to share with you in this connection the following example from the Word, but there is more. Now remember when you read this, the king of Tire was not in the garden of Eden and certainly he was not a cherub who was appointed over everything in creation, to look after it:

EZE 28:13-15

13“You were in Eden, the garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The ruby, the topaz, and the diamond;
The beryl, the onyx, and the jasper;
The lapis lazuli, the turquoise, and the emerald;
And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and your sockets,
Was in you.
They were prepared
On the day that you were created.14“You were the anointed cherub who covers and protects,
And I placed you there.
You were on the holy mountain of God;
You walked in the midst of the stones of fire [sparkling jewels].15“You were blameless in your ways
From the day you were created
Until unrighteousness and evil were found in you.

So, satan was the cherub who was blameless, and who had to watch over everything, as I understand it, in creation.

If he had to take care of everything, surely there is nothing left that he did not take care of. Now that was satan’s power and status.

In Revelation we read the promise that satan, death, and Hades will be cast into the lake of fire:

REV 20:10

10And the devil who had deceived them was hurled into the lake of fire and burning brimstone (sulfur), where the beast (Antichrist) and false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night, forever and ever.

REV 20:14-15

14Then death and Hades [the realm of the dead] were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire [the eternal separation from God]. 15And if anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire.

We also read the promise:

REV 21:3

 3and then I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them [as their God,]

We also read the promise that no sin shall enter the Gates of the LORD:

REV 21:27

27and nothing that defiles or profanes or is unwashed will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices abominations [detestable, morally repugnant things] and lying, but only those [will be admitted] whose names have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

REV 22:14

15Outside are the dogs [the godless, the impure, those of low moral character] and the sorcerers [with their intoxicating drugs, and magic arts], and the immoral persons [the perverted, the molesters, and the adulterers], and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying (deception, cheating).

Only when you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you are saved and will be able to enter Heaven:

JOHN 14:6

6Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Now, to put it this way – Who or what will you and I be in Heaven?

Now I could have used many examples to substantiate what I am saying, but I will suffice with the following and remember when you read this; that you are already created in the image of God. This alone gives you an edge in Heaven over heavenly beings. (which is about as great as the distance of the east from the west.)

ROM 8:16-17

16The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God. 17And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.

In the New Living Translation, Romans 8:17 read as follow:

ROM 8:17

And since we are his children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Let’s quickly read one passage from the Word that describe this Jesus with whom you and I will be jointly, or co-heirs:

JOHN 1:1-3 The Deity Of Jesus Christ

1In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.

Just in case someone might think that what you have just read does not speak of Jesus, I share with you the following:

JOHN 1:14  The Word Made Flesh

14And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).

So, exactly what you and I, so to speak, will look like, or in other words, – what our stature will look like – I do not know, but I do know that satan was not a joint heir with Jesus . The satan was, compared to what you and I will be, but only a cherub who was appointed over everything.

That, however great etc. it was, if you want to compare it to what you and I are going to be in Heaven, means from where I stand – he was nothing.

Therefore, to ask whether it is possible that you or I can sin in Heaven is to ultimately wonder whether Jesus, with whom we will be co-heirs, might sin in Heaven.

Will you want to sin in Heaven?

Have you truly accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?

Well then, I don’t know exactly how it’s going to work but I do know:

PHIL 3:21

21who, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself, will [not only] transform [but completely refashion] our earthly bodies so that they will be like His glorious resurrected body.

To conclude, my answer to the question about ‘whether I will want to sin in Heaven” will be:

As impossible as Jesus will want to sin in Heaven, so impossible will I want to sin in Heaven.

ROM 8:29

29For those whom He foreknew [and loved and chose beforehand], He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son [and ultimately share in His complete sanctification], so that He would be the firstborn [the most beloved and honored] among many believers.

Other ‘thoughts from the Word’ that I wrote, which deal about things in, and around Heaven, and which I can happily send to you on your request, are the following:

* What is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal.

* Will we know each other in heaven?

* Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven

* The third Heaven and our reward.
