A PERSONAL TESTIMONY ABOUT PRAYER REGARDING MY WIFE, WHO WENT TO BE WITH JESUS IN 2019

I want to share with you a wonderful testimony, and because it happened to my wife, Cornelia – who is now with Jesus – it remains very vivid in my thoughts.
Virtually every year my wife suffered from Pleurisy and that year it was not any different.
On Friday 23rd May 2008 she went to the doctor and he prescribed antibiotics for her pain and an anti-inflammatory.
That Saturday morning when I awoke, my wife sounded very peaceful to me. When I touched her, she moved slightly and I asked her if she is “all right” but she only moved a little. When I further investigated, to my surprise I found her awake and I noticed that she was not able to talk. Investigating further and with great difficulty with her word formation, I also came to the conclusion that she was having great difficulty in moving. I phoned my doctor and he said that we must immediately stop the pain medication, as she was certainly allergic to the medication.
I did this and continued with the rest of the treatment, which included the anti-biotic.
That Saturday afternoon everything was still the same, except that she had vomited and had a tremendous headache.
Because I was unable to get in touch with my doctor, I phoned my daughter Alta and asked for her advice. (I always ask her advice if I need a good opinion about something.) She phoned her doctor and then phone me back saying, her doctor said that we should stop the anti-biotics immediately, as my wife is allergic to them. We did that and from that Saturday evening she began to improve but by Monday her voice was still not right, she was still unsteady on her feet and she still has a terrible headache.
The Monday afternoon I phoned Alta and asked her to make an appointment with her doctor.
Early on Tuesday morning, the 27th, we saw Alta’s doctor who admitted her immediately and started with various tests.
At this stage I thought she had had a stroke.
Wednesday the 28th they did more tests and on the Wednesday evening I sent an email to all my friends in my contact list and asked them to pray with me.
Thursday afternoon I phoned the doctor to ask about the test results; she informed me that she had found no problems but wanted to keep her in hospital one more night for observations.
There is no bleeding on the brain. There are no indications of a stroke of any kind. Everything is normal.
From that Thursday afternoon, the 29th May, every time I phoned my wife, her voice sounded much improved.
After visiting hour that Thursday evening, Alta phoned me, because I was unable to get to the hospital – and told me that there is nothing wrong with my wife’s voice.
I phoned my wife and she was totally normal.
This, my friends, is what prayer can do.
I have a saying when someone asks me how things are going:
“God is on the throne and all is well”
When I thought about my wife during Sunday the 25th May 2008, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th, almost every time I heard my wife speak or thought about her, I began to cry, and I called out:
“God is on the throne and things are well”
Because, I remembered all the time:
ROMANS 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose
Only if you are a child of God and you had seen my wife that Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, would you believe a doctor, if he/she said to you that there was nothing wrong with your wife. Yes, you can believe the doctor because, you know of course that there is a loving Lord and He lovingly listened to many prayers.
If I remember the first chapter of Job and how our Lord boasted to satan about Job, then I think He enjoyed boasting about all those who were involved in the group to which I had sent the email to about my wife.
If you were part of my loved ones that I had sent the email to, I just want to let you know, I become very nostalgic about you all, when I read what I have written.
I sit before my computer and I think of you all and from my soul I call out:
“What a precious group of children of our Lord you all are!”
If satan ever again wants to influence you about God not listening to your prayers, then remember Thursday the 29th May 2008, when you together with many others prayed for a woman, who had all the signs of a stroke and through all the doctor’s tests could find nothing wrong with her.
For those of you reading this who was not part of the group which I had sent emails to, I want you to know, that our Lord does not have ‘favourites’. You, His child are joint heirs together with Christ. The same Lord, who healed in May 2008, still heals today.
I close off with a section which every so often came to mind during those times and I want to ask you to remember this thought should a trial arise along your path:
1 PETER 1:6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
1 PETER 1:7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.
