THE HIDDEN MANNA AND THE ENGRAVED WHITE STONE – PART 2

This is the second part of the daily thought from the Word, where someone sent a question to me about REV 2:17 to explain how I understand it.

In the first part from the Word about this matter, I explained how I understand the “hidden manna”.  And I can send this to you if you maybe did not receive it and if you would like to have it.
This is now my understanding of the “white stone” in Revelation 2:17.
We read:

REV 2:17  Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To those who are victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give each of them a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

According to sources that I consulted, a white stone, in many instances it was a piece of marble. It was used in many instances.
For example a judge would use this to indicate someone’s guilt in a matter, a black stone shown to the accused indicated guilt and a white stone was shown to the accused if innocent.
This really worked well if the judge was not able to speak the person’s language.
Then also athletes and people at other great functions or gatherings also used a white stone to indicate their achievement, generally a piece of white marble was given which had been engraved with their name and this was given to them. As a privilege person this would allow them access to many things, which was not meant for an ordinary person.
Also this principle was clearly understood by the churches (congregations) of Asia, and they knew the true meaning of this and had a good understanding thereof, because they knew:

ACTS 4:11  Jesus is“ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the corner-stone.’
ACTS 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved.”

The following was said by Jesus:

MRK 12:10  Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture:
      “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;
MRK 12:11  the Lord has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?”

You still remember what we read in REV 2:17:

REV 2:17  … also give each of them a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

Praise the Name of our Lord, that you and I have this wonderful knowledge in our hearts and that I place this part as I understand it:

ISA 49:15 “ Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
ISA 49:16  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
      your walls are ever before me.

You and I, yes everyone who has accepted Jesus as Redeemer and Saviour has their name engraved on the whitest stone of all times.

How wonderful to know and to announce to everyone, so that they can also share in this great wonderful truth:

EPH 2:19-22
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,
20  built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.
22  And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Come you and I allow the Holy Spirit through our testimony, but also mainly through our lives, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people around us.

Because someone one day spoke this great wisdom:

“Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the people around you and when it is necessary, also use words”.

Greetings,
Sakkie
