IS GOD THE CREATOR OF ALL CHILDREN WHO ARE CONCEIVED

IS GOD THE CREATOR OF ALL CHILDREN WHO ARE CONCEIVED?

Sakkie Parsons

Translated from the Afrikaans Version: Is ons Here die Skepper van alle kinders wat verwek word?
Translator:  Lynda Botha

Someone asked me a question that can be summarized as follows:
Did our Lord really plan all babies’ lives long ago in advance before they were even conceived?

Then the person used examples such as adultery relationships, rape and children of people who did not know or want to know our Lord, and because I myself fall into this next category, I would add people who are born with a disability.

This is how I would interpret this matter. I read the Word of God in a childlike manner, which is the way our Lord wants us to read His Word. Because He says:

MAT 18:2 "Jesus called a little child to Him and put the child among them.”
MAT 18:3 “Then He said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

MRK 10:15 "I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

Then, on this following occasion Jesus underlined what you have just read, when He said:

MAT 11:25 "At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.”

So now, firstly, the Word of God left no doubt whatsoever in my mind that our Lord is the Creator of all things in the universe and therefore includes every human being. For example, we read the following wonderful truth:

JOHN 1: 3-5
3 "God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him.”
4 “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone.”
5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

How absolutely wonderful is not that when our Lord tells us about the creation of humans, we can see that our Lord created and creates humans quite differently from the rest of His creations:

GEN 1:26 "Then God said, “Let Us make human beings in Our image, to be like Us.  They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
GEN 1:27 “So God created human beings in His own image.  In the image of God, He created them;”

Therefore, I know that when our Lord creates humans, He creates every part on and in that person, to be an exact piece which becomes part of the bigger picture. The bigger picture of which we can only see a small part:

PSM 139:13-18
13 "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
14 “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it”.
15 “You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.”
16 “You saw me before I was born.  Every day of my life was recorded in your book.  Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
17 “How precious are Your thoughts about me, O god.  They cannot be numbered!”
18 “I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me!”

Do you know what other wonderful truth I also saw in Psalm 139:13-18?
From what I understand from this part and from the rest of the Word of God, is that every woman who ever had a miscarriage, has this glorious wonderful knowing that, because of what happened to her, there is someone in Heaven who otherwise would not have been there.

Now, because sin entered the world, Satan’s main focus is to destroy our Lord’s creations as much as possible through humans.

Then we sometimes see with our small, limited mind-sets chaos, and because, like I said, we are just seeing a small part of the big picture, we are questioning whether our Lord are still fully in charge. Let me show you an example from the Word of what I mean by the big picture:

MAT 1:1-16
1 “This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham:
2 “Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers.”
3 “Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah (whose mother was Tamar). Perez was the father of Hezron. Hezron was the father of Ram.”
4 “Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon the father of Salmon.”
5 “Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab). Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Rahab). Obed was the father of Jesse.”
6 “Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah).
7  “Solomon was the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam was the father of Abijah. Abijah was the father of Asa.”
8 “Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was the father of Jehoram. Jehoram was the father of Uzziah.”
9 “Uzziah was the father of Jotham. Jotham was the father of Ahaz. Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.”
10 “Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh. Manasseh was the father of Amos. Amos was the father of Josiah.”
11 “Josiah was the father of Jehoiachin and his brothers) born at the time of the exile to Babylon).”
12 “After the Babylonia exile: Jehoiachin was the father of Shealtiel.  Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel.”
13 “Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud. Abiud was the father of Eliakim. Eliakim was the father of Azor.”
14 “Azor was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Akim. Akim was the father of Eliud.”
15 “Eliud was the father of Eleazar. Eleazar was the father of Matthan.  Matthan was the father of Jacob.”
16 “Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah."

Someone will look at these 16 verses and say that this is just a list with a lot of names, but I would like to point out a few people to you in this list, that if some people of today lived back then, and looked at their circumstances, that they too would have wondered if our Lord is still in charge, but he was and is.

I think Esau wondered sometimes, when he thought of Jacob, what inspired our Lord to create such a sly deceiver, but Jacob was part of the Lord's plan for the salvation of the world and in other words, the salvation of you and me:

MAT 1:2 “Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah...”

Then there were Solomon's mother Bathsheba. If David's adulterous relationship with her didn’t took place and she didn’t get pregnant, David would not have married her, and then Solomon would not have been born:

MAT 1:6 “Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah).

Now I didn’t even say anything about Rahab. But you see, we are people and we only see a very, very small part of the big picture but it is for me personally comforting to know that He planned and can see the whole picture. So - although I don’t understand everything now, I know that I’m in safe hands, and that I one day will see the beautiful picture as a whole:

1 COR 13:12 "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”

Therefore, we can peacefully trust in Him while we follow Him blindly. I say this with my tongue in my cheek, as in my case, I have the honour to do it literally and figuratively, because I am physically blind.  I remember that He said to us:

ISA 55:8 "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord.”

How absolutely wonderful is the next scripture declaring that every unborn and born child belongs to our Lord and that Heaven also belongs to them. This is until they reach the age of accountability, when each person decides for her/himself where he/she will spend eternity:

MRK 10:13 "One day some parents brought their children to Jesus, so He could touch and bless them.  But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Him.”
MRK 10:14 “When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples.  He said to them, “Let the children come to me.  Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”

I conclude with the following:

Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, there comes a day when people themselves becomes accountable for their actions before the Lord -  By choosing out of our own free will to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour, or not to do so.

However, until such time as I understand it, every child is an automatic candidate for Heaven:

MRK 10:14 “When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples.  He said to them, “Let the children come to me.  Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”

MAT 18: 3 “Then He said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

How absolutely wonderful!

Not only are all children who are born or stillborn et cetera the creation of our Lord’s, but when we accept Him as our Saviour, then it also does not matter whether I am created from an adulterous relationship or any other type:

2 COR 5:17 "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.  The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
