PORNOGRAPHY – HELP, I AM ADDICTED.

On occasion someone asked me to write something about pornography, which I have done.

Then I received a moving and truthful letter from someone who is addicted to pornography and who has read that thought from the Word of mine and asked me for advice on how to overcome this addiction.

This is my answer to that person, which I also now share with you:

The first thing that I always do when someone sends me a question is to look what the Word says about the subject.  If I understand the Word correctly, and to express it as lightly as possible, – pornography is vile/repulsive to our Lord.  For example, our Lord says:

MAT 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Is it not precisely what I do when I look at pornography?

Now I must not just quickly read over the word “adultery”. What is adultery?

It is everything that our Lord, concerning sex, despises.  If I commit adultery, I am then unfaithful to my life partner and I fornicate / whore.  That is exactly/precisely what I am doing when I look at pornography.  If you cut it to the bone – then – concerning our Lord as you have seen – you are committing adultery.  I am unfaithful to my life partner and I fornicate/whore:

The New King James (NKJV) translation states it this way:

MAT 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I am now going to make a mighty statement: 
According to what I read in the Word and it applies to a multitude/legion of other things as well, but here I am only concerned about pornography:
When, looking at pornography and then also enjoying it, not that it is personally a problem for you, and I emphasize if it is not a problem for you, in other words – you see nothing wrong in that part of how you live your life, do you have an immensely great problem. 
You literally have a hell of a problem. 
Because you see, one thing you can absolutely be sure of: 
You are not yet a child of our Lord.  In other words:  You are still lost and on the road to hell.

1COR 6:9-10  9Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I quote here verse 10 also from the New King James (NKJV) translation:

1COR 6:10  nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Here I have now quoted 10 lifestyles from the Word for you, which – if it is your way of living, and it is not a problem for you, then you are unsaved.  According to the Word which you have just read you are on the road to hell and 4 of these lifestyles can be associated with pornography.

Do you see how extremely loathsome is pornography, according to the Word for our Lord?  No wonder that satan got it right according to some people, to make these the most popular websites on the internet.

Now remember I am actually sharing this with someone who has a great problem with pornography in his/her life.
For those of you who have read this far and for whom pornography is not wrong and is not a problem, I want to say:
I really hope that after this it will become a problem, because the Word says to you again today and if the Word says this, it also speaks about everything for which our Lord finds abominable, like pornography:

2PE 2:21  It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.
2PE 2:22  Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

For you that want to remove pornography from your life, I want to tell you that it is actually very easy to remove pornography from your life.
Someone may now say within his/her heart:  “Sakkie you do not know what you are talking about.”  I especially want to challenge you and yes I came to know – Pornography and all that goes with it is the one thing which is visited daily by most men and woman throughout the world.

Follow all of these steps and then contact me again and tell me if you really think I do not know what I am talking about.
First you must accept Jesus Christ as your Redeemer and Saviour.  Because you see – without Jesus you are a looser, before you have even begun:

JOHN 15:5  I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Then you truly confess all your sins to our Lord, because how wonderful to know:

1JOHN 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Realize again from the start that sex, concerning yourself, is only meant for you and your spouse and live your life accordingly.  My great hero Paul writes:

1COR 7:1-4 
1 Now for the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.”
2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.
3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4  The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.

Always remember, that whatever has happened between you and your life partner in the marital bed during your marriage, must be completely acceptable to you both.

Then you take these practical steps:

Go and get these programs from the internet if at all possible, because I do not know if a person can install all of them and get them all to do their work, I myself is not an expert in this field but make sure you install as many as possible on your computer and that all of them are working correctly:

Then – and this one should certainly be one of the programs which you download and install on your computer, and you must make the people part of the program whom you have the most respect for and who’s opinion you hold the highest regard in your life.  The websites name is: www.X3Watch.com

Then if you visit a website which is to do with pornography, then this program will notify those people you added to your list inside the program that you have visited that sort of website.

If you are interested, here are a few books that you can buy for yourself to read: Every Man's Battle: Winning the War on Sexual Purity One Victory at a Time by Stephen Arterburn;  Pure Freedom: Breaking the Addiction to Pornography by Mike Cleveland ;  The Game Plan by Joe Dallas.
Then you can and will attain victory over this which is an abomination for our Lord – you will accomplish this if you really want to.  Because you are still hearing the Holy Spirit of our Lord which is in your heart and speaking to you and which shows you that what you are doing is wrong in the eyes of our Lord.  Follow the suggestions which I have given you with integrity in your heart and you will be a winner.

I close off with the following words from my great hero Paul, which you can really write down in large letters and place it somewhere that you see continuously, where it will remind you of how our Lord is busy changing your life for Himself – also in your sexual life:
PHIL 4:8  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

The New Life Version (NLV) reads as follows:

PHIL 4:8  Christian brothers, keep your minds thinking about whatever is true, whatever is respected, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever can be loved, and whatever is well thought of. If there is anything good and worth giving thanks for, think about these things.

And in the New Living Translation (NLT) it reads as follows:

PHIL 4:8  And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
