One day in an e-mail, I let off a bit of steam about some Christians around me, who like to complain.
Someone, you could say, took me on in a nice way about what I said.
If I am right, I mentioned as an example how wrong it is for a Christian to talk about a blue Monday.
For the Christian, every day should be the Lord’s Day.
As the song’s lyrics go:
“This is the day that the Lord has made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
PsALm 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Now I explain again from another angle, how I see it:
It is completely normal to sometimes feel sad, or bad, or angry etc. However, I must take care that I do not sin.
EFE 4:26-27
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
For me, what is not normal for a child of God, is to complain.
I say again that I believe that a Christian who complain – is in fact telling the world that his/her God is messing up, or is simply a bad God, who do not take good care of him/her.
So, from where I stand and look at it, a Christian’s complaining look a lot like blaspheme to me.
I can get angry. Jesus did too.
I may get sad. Jesus did too.
I may talk about it. Jesus did too.
I can cry about it. Jesus did too.
MARK 3:5 He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!
Instead, I will rather magnify our Lord’s Name in the situation because I know for sure, that nothing can happen to me, if it does not fit into His plan for me.
I don’t always understand the things that happen to me, and many times in my humanity I don’t like it either – but I always say to my children, loved ones, friends and acquaintances:
There are two verses in the Bible that I have made my motto in life:
I stand on Romans 8 verse 28.
ROM 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Just look at what is written from verse 31 onward:
ROM 8:31-32
31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
God may not do it the way I want Him to do it. God may not do it when I want Him to do it, but according to His will, He will surely do it.
I stand with one foot on Romans 8 verse 28 and I stand with my other foot on Philippians 4 verse 4.
PHIL 4:4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Paul explains to us in a very beautiful way what our outlook on life should be if the attacks of life threaten to engulf us.
2 COR 4:8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.
I have this wonderful knowing when things happen that I don’t like –
Everything in this life will come to an end – and then the crown of eternal life awaits me.
MAT 5:10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
I will close again with a saying that I have already made part of my e-mail ministry.
