DO YOU FLIRT?
Sakkie Parsons
Translated from Afrikaans: Flirt jy?

Someone wrote to me about men who “flirt.”
Even though this problem does not only occur amongst men, in my opinion, as I have noticed throughout my life, it is an extremely ‘obnoxious‘ (horrible) problem amongst men and it is just as prevalent amongst Christian men.
Because it was a woman who addressed the question in her letter to me and in my response to her, in this writing from the Word, it is more about men but not completely directed only to men who “flirt”.
Here is my response to the lady:
Concerning the man and his “flirting”.
I hope he is a Christian, because if such a man is not a Christian, it is hard to persuade him, because concerning them there is just no argument which carries enough weight to convince them.
If that man is a Christian, that what he is doing is just simply evil and that characteristic should not be present in a child of our Lord.
When you cut to the bone, he is then simply an adulterer.
MAT 5:28 But I tell you that anyone (man or woman) who looks at a woman (man) lustfully has already committed adultery with her (him) in his heart.
Our Lord feels so strongly about adultery, that it is the one and only reason allowed for someone to split apart what He has joined into one .
MAT 5:32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality (adultery), makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Our Lord feels so strongly about adultery, whatever form it takes, that He specified in the Old Covenant that such people should be put to death.
LEV 20:10 “‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbour—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.
I am not saying that there are not exceptions but if there are, throughout my life so far I have not yet encountered a single man or woman who is only slightly “flirting,” whose case (heart, relationship) with our Lord is absolutely right.
How else?
If your relationship with our Lord, at that particular time in your life, is truly a lovingly relationship, you would be truly ashamed of yourself to undertake such a thing in full sight of God Almighty.
Now I am not saying that satan will not attack a person who’s right with our Lord, with such things – satan will always try to disrupt someone. But you will immediately, when satan attacks you in that way, turn your back on it.
From Adam’s time the Word is full of these things, that if satan cannot accomplish this through a man, he will use a woman and the heartache of this today is that he generally is successful in his attacks on our Lord’s children.
While we have the Holy Spirit living within us, we do not concern ourselves with His voice.
Adultery is nothing else than lust.
MAT 5:27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery (this includes flirting).’
MAT 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman (man) lustfully has already committed adultery with her (him) in his heart.
However you look at it.
In the end it is simply, one or other form of lust.
Listen to what the Word says about lust.
You have already read:
MAT 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman (man) lustfully has already committed adultery with her (him) in his heart.
Further on we read in the Word regarding this kind of lifestyle:
1 COR 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
1 COR 6:10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
What I as a child of God should, no, must do, if something like this crosses my path, is to immediately speak to our Lord about the matter and then to rebuke satan, and I tell you, that if I am right with our Lord, I would immediately not want to “flirt”. Because assurance is given to me, as a child of our Lord, as written in His Word:
JAM 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
How wonderful then also, together with our Lord’s assistance, to achieve the victory over satan, and to know:
MAT 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
The NLT reads as follows:
MAT 5:8 God blesses those people whose hearts are pure, for they will see God!
I close this writing off to you with the following from the Word:
2 COR 7:1 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
Greetings,
Sakkie
