JESUS HEALS IN HIS UNIQUE WAYS

Someone wrote to me as follows:
“Did Jesus really spit in the man’s eye or did He mixed it with mud and smeared it on his eyes?
Thank you.”
There are two occasions where Jesus really used saliva to restore someone’s eyesight and I share both occasions with you and as you will notice – the Word itself answers your question.
MRK 8:22-26
22 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?"
24 And he looked up and said, "I see men, but they look like trees, walking."
Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 And he sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village."
The second healing was:
JOH 9:6-7
6 Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud
7 and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.
Jesus of course did not at all need to act in this way to restore people’s sight.
For, as I remember, there was another occurrence where Jesus healed someone’s eye sight as we read:
LUK 18:35-43
35 As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.
36 And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant.
37 They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
38 And he cried out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
39 And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
40 And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him,
41 "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me recover my sight."
42 And Jesus said to him, "Recover your sight; your faith has made you well."
43 And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
Personally I think and believe that it is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit that our Lord here says to us:
He has no pre-set rules how He wants to heal someone as some people would want it.
Because – His ways are not our ways:
ROM 11:33-36
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?"
35 "Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?"
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
ISA 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For instance:
Some people receive instant healing when they have been prayed for.
Others receive prayer, but they still have to continue with the chemo treatment for cancer before He heals them and yes, to some like my hero Paul – our Lord says, “Go ahead in your condition or the circumstances in which you are, because that is how I want to use you to glorify Me and to work for Me.”
2COR 12:7-9
7 So to keep me from being too elated by the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from being too elated.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
For that reason I do in my circumstances with my circumstances, that what I can do and for the rest I just keep my eyes fixed on my Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ.
With our eyes fixed on Jesus we will not lose heart.
HEB 12:1-3
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider Him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
