HE WILL RESTORE, CONFIRM, STRENGTHEN AND ESTABLISH YOU
Author: Sakkie Parsons
I once heard about a farmer during the second Boer war that came back to his farm and saw the burned farmhouse and the ruined croplands and said: “The battle continues”
A day or two ago I wrote to someone who told me about a problem in her life with other people and the part I quote here now, comes back to my heart and I would like to share it with you as an encouragement.
EPH 6:12-18
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Note the preceding verses:
EPH 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
EPH 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
We must be on guard:
The closer we live to our Lord, the harder satan tries to drag us into hell. However, we resist the enemy in the wonderful knowledge that Christ has already won us the victory and we can live as conquerors despite what happens to us in this life:
ROM 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
1COR 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1PE 5:8-10
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Greetings,
Sakkie
