DO NOT GET ENGAGED WITH OR PUT YOUR TRUST INTO SPIRITS OF THE DEAD, MEDIUMS OR SORCERERS

DO NOT GET ENGAGED WITH OR PUT YOUR TRUST INTO SPIRITS OF THE DEAD, MEDIUMS OR SORCERERS.

Sakkie Parsons

Translated from Afrikaans:  “Begeef julle nie tot die geeste van afgestowenes en die geeste van waarsê nie.”

Someone who went to a fortune teller wrote to me and asked me some questions in this regard.

Here's how I answered the person – This is how I understand these things with the Word as my highest authority and live them out in my own life.

I have made some changes, where I quote the person, because I respect people's privacy.
Here's how I see this case:

To talk about this question – whether it is from our Lord to communicate / talk with the dead or not – it is best to start at the beginning and the beginning is the Word of our Lord.
So, before I go any further on this matter, let's see what the Word says:

LEV 19:31  "Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.

DEU 18:10-12
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer
11  or a charmer or a medium or a wizard or a necromancer,
12  for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. And because of these abominations the LORD your God is driving them out before you.

LEV 20:27  "A man or a woman who is a medium or a wizard shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them."

1CHR 10:13 So Saul died for his breach of faith. He broke faith with the LORD in that he did not keep the command of the LORD, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance.

Keep in mind what you have just read when I now quote you words to me:

"On his website he also says that he is a Christian and his gift comes from the Lord – and before and after each session he prays to the Lord and asks Him for His guidance."

Our Lord say that you must have nothing to do with such people.
He say it is an abomination / disgrace to Him.

He say that before the New Testament existed, which was drawn up after Jesus' death, He commanded that people who do such a horrible thing should be killed.

This is how horrible this, which He Himself calls an abomination, is to Him.

The person who can supposedly communicate with the dead says according to your letter to me, that ‘our Lord has given him the gift.’

Our Lord know my heart, that what I am going to say now, I say with the greatest respect to our Lord but I must state it so strongly, so that you can see this person's statement according to the Word as our guideline.

In whatever way you look at it, the bottom line is this:
Someone is lying here.
Either our Lord is lying, and it is not really an abomination to Him.
Or this person who is supposedly calling the dead is lying, and he is not getting his – what he calls ‘a gift’ – from our Lord.
You now have to decide for yourself who is lying – our Lord in His Word, or the person on his website, or whoever make such a statement.

You also write that this man says that he is a Christian.

I just want to share with you a few things from the Word in this regard.
JESUS is saying:

MAT 7:21  "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

With what you read in the Word – Do you think this person is doing the will of our Lord?

One more thing –
Remember, every time satan tempted Jesus, satan quoted our Lord's Word.
I think besides our Lord there is no one who knows the Word like satan.
No wonder then that the Word says of him and his henchmen:

2COR 11:14  And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2COR 11:15  So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

We have a saying:
"He walks with the Bible under his arm."
Satan will, if it suits him, send someone to you with a Bible under each arm and both hands full of tracts.

According to what I read in our Lord's holy Word, one of the following two is an absolute reality if someone tells you that they communicate with the dead:
Or they are lying to you and it is just a prank to get money or attention etc. Or it is someone who deals with demons, with demonic evils.

Someone asks:
If it's not her or him I've seen from beyond the grave, then who was it?

If satan can come to me like an angel of light, what human disguise will be too difficult for him?
We must never forget that satan is a god:

2COR 4:3  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.
2COR 4:4  In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

You write; that he could tell you things that only your family knew about.

Of course, it is not only you who knew about it. The evil god of this world, knows of most of our most intimate secrets and besides that – wherever he can he will try to abuse people to use the information he has against us – he still tries daily to put us in a bad light before our Lord but fortunately it will all come to an end as well.

REV 12:10  And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

Everyone always say:
"You will not believe how accurate these people are."

I believe it. Of course I believe that. Because satan, the evil god of this world, must drag with gimmicks and all sorts of "tricks" with the little time at his disposal, as many people as possible with him to hell.

We must also not let ourselves be led astray by his religious "trick". As I have already said, he knows the Word just as well as many of us and better than most of us.
He will even try through religion to promote his "image" but as always, when he encounters a Spirit-filled person, he miss the boat.

For example, we read the following:

ACTS 16:16  As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.

Now look at how satan abuses religion to promote his witchcraft image.

ACTS 16:17  She followed Paul and us, crying out, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation."

Then satan miss the boat again. Because instead of his “image” being promoted, a person is freed:

ACTS 16:18  And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour.

You ask if it was really that wrong to go to the person.

It's not just life threatening, because in the end your life is ruined.
It is certainly eternally life-threatening.

JESUS is saying:

MAT 6:24  "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

That is why our Lord also say that we must stay away from these things, because He is our Lord to whom we must turn to.

The Amplified Bible read as follows:

LEV 19:31 Turn not to those mediums who have familiar spirits or to wizards;  do not seek them out to be defiled by them.  I am the Lord your God.

Now the question is:
If I have gone to a soothsayer out of ignorance, will our Lord forgive me if I have truly repented?

There is no sin that you and I truly repent of, that cannot be washed clean by the blood of Jesus.

1JOHN 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1JOHN 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Sakkie
