THE TRINITY OF GOD

THE TRINITY OF GOD

Someone asked me, if I would not explain the Trinity.

This is how I see the Lord’s Trinity in my heart and will try and explain it in a very short and inadequate attempt because to try and describe our Lord as He actually is, it is totally incomprehensible by my understanding.
In my life I have also never met a knowledgeable Christian whom, he/she, has been able, through the guidance of the Word, to completely understand and explain our Lord’s ‘Unity’ or ‘Trinity’, but this is also naturally not strange, for the human mind is just too small to understand this concept.

According to my opinion one of the best ways of explaining the ‘Trinity’ which is used by people, which I call the ‘water’ example –  You get water, you get ice and you get steam but in the end it is water but in different formats. As I have said, according to my opinion, it is one of the best ways to explain/define the ‘Trinity’ but this example is completely inadequate. Because, our Lord is not restricted by a particular shape/form, HE IS.

On this side of the grave, we will never understand the Trinity of God with our limited understanding, but then – our Lord Himself says:

ISA 55:8  “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
ISA 55:9  “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts

That is why I rejoice with my great hero Paul:

ROMANS 11:33-36
33 “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and [a] knowledge of God!    How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out!
34  “Who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has been his counsellor?”
35  “Who has ever given to God,  that God should repay them?”
36  For from him and through him and for him are all things.     To him be the glory forever! Amen

Personally it is glorious for me when I speak to our Lord, to remember that I worship the one and only Almighty God.

1 COR 8:4  So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”

GAL 3:20  A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

Personally in my heart and looking at it with my human perspective, I see our lord like this: Let us take my son Martiens as an example. He is a single person but he is my daughter-in-law’s husband when he communicates with her. He is also my grand child’s father when he communicates with her. Then he is also a warrant officer in the police when he communicates with the public in his official capacity. Yet Martiens is just one person. Our Lord is, as I see it, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The one Almighty, the great I AM.

EXO 3:14  God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

JOHN 8:57  “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”
JOHN 8:58   “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I AM!”

Eventually I can rejoice in glorious thankfulness within my heart. How wonderful to have received mercy, to know and understand:

HEB 11:6  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that HE EXISTS and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him

I believe that our Lord is the One and Only God Almighty and I am extremely thankful, that He, made Himself known to me and then gave me the great mercy to accept Him as my Redeemer and Saviour. I will leave you with the following thought from the Word:

JAMES 2:19  “You believe that there is one god. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”

Greetings,
Sakkie
