WHAT DOES OUR LORD'S WORD TELL US ABOUT ABORTION?
" Stand aside Lord "
Translated from Afrikaans: “Wat sê ons HERE se Woord vir ons oor Aborsie?”
Sakkie Parsons
Today I want to start this writing in this manner:
People are constantly talking about how dangerous it is in their area these days and it is unfortunately very true – but I want to share with you about the most dangerous place to be in South Africa.
I know I've written about this topic a few times before, but since it's so prominent in the news now, I want to share it with you again.
I am going to show you today in chronological order, as I see it in our Lord's Word, what our LORD says about this matter.
The most dangerous place in South Africa, when I look at the statistics and I remember what is written in our Lord's precious Word, is the womb – because of abortions.
People have various reasons and debating why they would approve of an abortion.
For example, some say that up to 22 weeks you can allow an abortion, because then the fetus is apparently not yet a human being.
Some say that you can allow an abortion until the heart begins to beat, because until then the fetus is not yet a human being.
Some say that abortion is not mentioned in the Word and therefore you can just have an abortion, anytime you want, and if it suits you etc.
Here I just want to mention, for the sake of interest, that the habit of smoking, where you harm not only yourself but also everyone in your immediate environment, is not mentioned in the Word either.
Does it mean that I can harm my own body and the bodies of people who live with me?
There are so many reasons that even some Christians use that one can have an abortion.
I now give in chronological order the passages from the Word where, I believe, if we listen to the Holy Spirit, we can see what GOD's view is – whether one may have an abortion.
Read this and then listen in your heart to the Holy Spirit and I believe you will clearly hear whether abortion is murder or not murder.
Here in Judges 13:7 Samson is spoken of:
JDG 13:7 but he said to me, 'Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.'"
Samson's mother must have done a few things before she became pregnant, in other words, before our Lord began His work of creation in her womb, to prepare her body, so to speak, for when our Lord is going to start creating this Nazarite's body in her womb.
JDG 13:7 but he said to me, 'Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. (So, from now on..) So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean..
Furthermore, Samson was already a Nazirite when he was still in his mother's womb until his death.
Therefore, he was already human in his mother's womb.
Can I now decide from when he was already a man/human in his mother's womb and then a Nazarite?
JDG 13:7 .. for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb (that is his mother's womb) to the day of his death.'"
Now let's look at what we read in Job:
JOB 10:8-9
8 Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you have destroyed me altogether.
9 Remember that you have made me like clay; (Who wants to decide now when God began to mould Job like clay all around? and will you return me to the dust?
Next, I share with you Psalm 139 beginning at verse 13:
PSM 139:13-16
13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (in his case, in his mother's womb)
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance (when his body did not yet have the form of a man); in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.
Also pay attention and I'm going to show you again and again that it is a fact that our Lord continually brings to our attention in His Word – His love letter to us – and that is; that you and I, and every person who has had an abortion and is going to be aborted, was known completely by Him, even before He gave us a human body in our mother's womb.
PSM 139:16 … in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.
Then we read further in Isaiah:
ISA 49:1 Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The LORD called me from the womb, (while he was still in his mother's womb. We just don't know at what stage of his mother's pregnancy, and our Lord also called him by his name that his parents called him after his birth), from the body of my mother he named my name.
In case anyone thinks I am exaggerating this passage in Isaiah 49:1, I just want to mention that Bible translators who are much smarter in translation than I can ever imagine to be and who use the oldest newly discovered writings, translate this passage in Isaiah 49:1 as follows in the New Living Translation that I love so much:
ISA 49:1 Listen to me, all you in distant lands! Pay attention, you who are far away! The LORD called me before my birth, from within the womb He called me by name.
(Also, after he got his name Isaiah from his parents)
Next, we read a passage in Jeremiah:
JER 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb (Prior to our Lord began to form Jeremiah's body in his mother’s womb) I knew you, and before you were born (we just don't know at what stage, before Jeremiah was born from his mother's body) I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."
I also quote the part from the New Living Translation:
JER 1:5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. (While he was still in his mother's womb. We just don't know at what stage while he was still in his mother's womb)
Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as My prophet to the nations.”
Next, we read:
LUKE 1:41-44
41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby (not a fetus or embryo, or whatever they call it, because they do not want to call him/her a human being) leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, (not a fetus or an embryo but..) the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
Now before I go any further, I just want to explain how I look at things in my life over which I have no control and here I use, because I understand it best, my own circumstances as an example.
I look at everything that happen in my life, that come my way or that happen to me – and I change what I can change with the loving grace of our Lord, as I can change it according to Biblical principles, in other words that is not wrong according to our Lord’s precious Word and therefore not a sin – and that which I cannot change, I prayerfully leave with our Lord.
For example:
I am blind.
I did everything I could to see if the doctors could help me, but they couldn't do anything for me.
So, now I leave it to our Lord and move on with my life and try to live according to our Lord's principles to the best of my ability.
Another example from my own life:
I was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in 1997 and my doctor told me that if they couldn't stop it, I had 3 to 6 months to live.
I then did to the best of my ability everything that our Lord gave me to do, which is not outside the principles of His Word and left the rest in His divine hands and in a few months, it will now be 27 years later, and I still work too wonderfully for our Lord.
I know I have used these examples from my own life before in a writing to you, but they were tremendous experiences from my own life, and I just want to show that I also understand great trauma.
In other words, I am not talking about hearsay, when I tell how we must look at great and sometimes terrifying trauma in our lives as children of God. I was there.
Now I just want to share with you two of the many examples that I am confronted with because of my preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this matter.
First:
What if a woman is raped and then she is expecting a baby?
Then the first fact that no true follower of Jesus Christ can contradict is the following:
GOD, in His great wisdom allowed the woman to become pregnant.
Shall I now be so presumptuous, to put it this way, as to stiffen my back against it?
Then the second fact, which I should have called the first fact, which no true follower of Jesus Christ can contradict is the following:
GOD in His great wisdom, to put it this way, created the child with His own hands.
Who am I, for whom He also created, to put it this way, with His own hands, to push Him aside and destroy His handiwork, with which He is busy in His great wisdom and through my actions say to GOD Almighty:
"Stand aside Lord, because in this matter I am wiser than You."
I don’t understand a lot of things, or I must rather say I don't understand most things in the world which in my view are wrong, that our Lord do allow – but I am a human being, with a human mind and He, my loving GOD and Saviour is GOD almighty, who say to me:
ISA 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
ISA 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Then I also remember in my own life and in this ministry:
EXO 4:11 Then the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? (and of course everything that my body consists of outside and inside, as it exists), Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? (or whatever you want to use as an example) Is it not I, the LORD?
EXO 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak." (Regarding myself, also regarding this ministry)
The second example I am also usually confronted with is:
What about a woman whose life is in danger?
Then applies, (and I mention it again also concerning this example, so that you can read it again) the first fact that no true follower of Jesus Christ can contradict, is the following:
GOD in His great wisdom allowed the woman to become pregnant.
The second fact is the following, which no true follower of Jesus Christ can contradict:
GOD in His great wisdom allowed the pregnant woman to have that medical condition in her life.
Who am I – for whom He also created with, to put it this way, His own hands, just as He created that woman with her own personal medical circumstances – to push Him aside and destroy His handiwork, with which He is busy in His great wisdom, and by my actions saying to GOD Almighty:
"Stand aside Lord, because in this matter I am wiser than You. What I am going to do now is not according to Your Word, but it is now just as it is."
I will never be able to proclaim, according to what I read in the Word, that God's handiwork and intently – in which a living soul is involved – may be destroyed by man.
I then now share with you this great glory from our Lord's Word, and I share it first of all with everyone who unfortunately has abortion in their past for one reason or another, especially because I am writing about it in this writing – but this applies to whatever from your past is misused by satan to take away your peace in our Lord.
If I, as a Christian / follower of Jesus Christ, confess my sin to Him in all sincerity, I have the assurance from His precious Word:
1JHN 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Then we also have this wonderful assurance with what you have just read:
Ephesians 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, (long before He began to create your body for your soul, which was then already created, whom He already knew completely), that we should be holy and blameless before him. (in your eternal life with Him, after you journey through your life here on earth) In love
5 he predestined us (long before He began to prepare your body in your mother for your soul which was then already created) for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
Finally in this writing only the following:
I mentioned to you at the beginning of this writing, that I want to share with you about the most dangerous place in South Africa to live in and in my opinion, it is the womb.
Just think about this:
In 2021 there was – and you can Google it if you want to make sure I didn't accidentally put in a ‘0’ too many – but in 2021 alone there was the terrifying figure of 260,000 abortions in South Africa. It is just over 21,666 abortions per month. Statistics from the World Health Organization show roughly 73 million abortions worldwide per year. These are, to put it mildly, people who were deprived of their life and right, to live out what our Lord had destined for them here on earth.
I look at these astronomical figures and I wonder how many thousands of prophets, evangelists, truthful shepherds and ordinary witnesses of Jesus Christ's glorious message, namely the gospel of Jesus Christ, have just been murdered by satan, by the abuse of ignorant but sometimes also many willingly people – even before they have been given the chance to live out what our LORD wanted for them to live out in their lives.
Add to that all the genius inventors and solvers of great problems that humanity is dealing with, whose expertise our Lord wanted to use, and the appalling tragedy for man, what we bring about ourselves is too enormous for me to even try to process.
Greetings,
Sakkie
