WILL I MISS HEAVEN IF I SMOKE?

WILL I MISS HEAVEN IF I SMOKE?

Sakkie Parsons

Someone wrote to me as follows:

I have a question, please. I have accepted Jesus as my Savior. I have corrected everything in my life according to the Word, as far as I possibly can. I’m just struggling to quit smoking. Will this cause me to miss Heaven?

Let me begin with this:

Based on how I understand the Word, no one will go to hell simply because he or she is addicted to smoking.

No one misses heaven because of something wrong they’ve done.

You miss heaven because of something you haven’t done.

You miss heaven if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Redeemer.

John 14:6 (AMP)
Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

And how absolutely wonderful and glorious that is!

John 1:12–13
12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, (Jesus Christ) He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—
13 who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].

Of course, smoking is a sin—but so are countless other things.

The sin I commit—whether it’s smoking or something else—must never become the norm in my life.

I must keep fighting against it, even if that means I struggle with it my whole life.

Believe me when I say, from a human point of view, there are many worse habitual sins that children of our Lord are addicted to. But, just to state it very clearly again:

That habit, or addiction—and yes, even sometimes our entire lifestyle—must never become the standard of a child of God’s life.
We must keep fighting against it.

I also want to lovingly share with you the following, if you were to ask me. I’ve written about this before, and I’m very confident that if you take time to read it calmly when you have the opportunity, it will bring you certainty regarding your own situation:

  • “Am I doomed because of my weakness or addiction?”
  • “In all these things, we are more than conquerors.”
  • “Addiction to smoking.”

Greetings,

Sakkie
