A MESSENGER OF GOD WITH THE SINCERE HONESTY OF AN ANGEL

A MESSENGER OF GOD WITH THE SINCERE HONESTY OF AN ANGEL

Like the angel who brought God’s message, today we are God’s angels who bring His Gospel to everyone around us.

Sakkie Parsons

Today I would like to share with you something that occurred to me.

I have already shared with you about this passage of text in the past, but today I want to share a thought from this passage with you, from a slightly different angle.

The very first message that was preached to us after our Lord’s incarnation as our Lord and Saviour, according to Jesus’ gospel, was a message of firstly, honour to our Lord and secondly, peace to all people in whom God is pleased.

These are people who, in obedience to God, accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

We read:

LUKE 2:14  “Glory to God in the highest [heaven],
And on earth peace among men with whom He is well-pleased.”

I repeat this message from the New Living Translation that I love so much:

LUKE 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,

and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

This first message from our Lord from Jesus’ New Testament that He prepared for us, His followers, was brought by angels – God’s heavenly messengers.

After that, starting with the shepherds, some of the plain standard people at that time, Jesus began to make use of His followers.

You see –

Jesus’ followers, that is you and me, are today God’s angels – God’s messengers – who must bring the good news of loving peace to the people around us.

Now the question for you and me today is:

Am I, Jesus’ follower, a messenger of the good news of love and peace according to Jesus’ gospel?

Actually, to put this question in the best way, I should ask myself in all honesty:

Am I, God’s messenger of Jesus ‘ good news – Gospel of love, a messenger like an angel of God to the people around me?

Or do I preach the good news gospel to the people around me, like a devil?

I should say, an evil spirit, because that’s what a devil is after all.

What I mean is this:

How do I carry out Jesus’ last command that He gave His followers here on earth?

What assignment am I talking about?

MATTHEW 28:18-20

18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

Perhaps you now think that I am exaggerating when I write:

“Or do I preach the good news gospel to the people around me like a devil? Actually, I should say, an evil spirit, because that is ultimately what a devil is.”

Because, unfortunately, this mistaken and pretending way of preaching the gospel is precisely the reason why most people no longer take the gospel of Jesus Christ seriously, I show you from the Word/Bible that there are such preachers of the Word – and you and I must watch and pray, that we may not be degenerated by satan into such preachers of the gospel of Jesus.

We read:

JHN 6:70

70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve [disciples]? And yet one of you is a devil (ally of Satan).”

What!

One would want to exclaim –

A disciple of Jesus, whom He chose Himself and he is a devil?

Believe me it can be put even worse, (that being called a devil and being one is not bad enough.)

Jesus is talking about people who are full of religion – but empty, without Jesus’ Holy Spirit present in them – with a false front, making the gospel of Jesus a mockery in the eyes of the world:

MAT 12:34-35

34 You brood of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35 The good man, from his [inner] good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his [inner] evil treasure, brings out evil things.

MAT 23:33  33 You [e]serpents, you spawn of vipers, how can you escape the penalty of hell?

How absolutely terrible, when Jesus look at a person for whom He paid the terrible price on the cross – and He, God who became man, come to the conclusion that that person is a devil, a viper/snake.

Perhaps you think that I am exaggerating and that it is not, so-called Christians, who sit in church and pretend that they have Jesus’ Holy Spirit in them, who cause so much damage, that Jesus compare them to vipers/snakes. Well then read what Jesus is saying in His Word:

MAT  7:22   22 Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’

Where do you usually find people prophesying in the name of our Lord?

Where do you usually find people casting out demons in the name of our Lord?

Where do you usually find people doing miracles in the name of our Lord?

And what does our LORD say, what will He say to many of them?

MAT  7:23  23 And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’

I want to ask you today, while our Lord has intended for you to read this writing:

Don’t you want to decide today, that from today onwards, you will truly strive to sincerely live out Jesus ‘ gospel of love, grace, salvation, and peace and then, when the opportunity arises, also give through words and your testimony the wonderful, good news of Jesus’ gospel to people?

Then also remember while you decide that with new zeal, in all sincerity, you are going to be our Lord’s messenger to people around you to the best of your ability, that you do not necessarily need to be someone with some theological degree or certificate.

The very first people He chose – who,

After Jesus’ coming as a human to the earth, the very first people He chose to preach His gospel, were the simplest among the people of their time.

They were shepherds.

Come, let you and I not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ “like angels of light” but let us be the true light in sharing His gospel.

2 COR 11:13-15

13 For such men are counterfeit apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light15 So it is no great surprise if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, but their end will correspond with their deeds.

Don’t you want to decide again today, now that our Lord has made you read this from His Word:

I shall go with our Lord’s Spirit that lives in me, as a genuine follower of Jesus, a true sincere messenger with the honesty of an angel preaching the gospel of Jesus to the people around me.

First, through my life – and if our Lord so arrange the circumstances, also through my testimony of the loving grace and saving gospel of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour.

For I am not a Christian, like an angel of light.

I, with Jesus, the Light for the world in me, am the light for this world. Starting with the people here directly around me:

MAT 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.
