WHAT IS SIN AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Someone asked me: “What is sin against the Holy Spirit?”
I just want you to understand that this is how I see the matter, and there will certainly be people who disagree with me.
Before I go any further, I want you to know—and I say this to everyone who asks me about this matter—you have definitely not sinned against the Holy Spirit, because the most outstanding characteristic of someone who has sinned against the Holy Spirit is that the person does not care one bit whether he or she has done so.
I am going to give you the facts as I see them.
First, read the following passage from Scripture.
MATTHEW 12:22-35 (AMP)
The Pharisees Rebuked
22 Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man both spoke and saw. 23 All the people wondered in amazement, and said, “Could this be the Son of David (the Messiah)?” 24 But the Pharisees heard it and said, “This man [a]casts out demons only by [the help of] Beelzebul (Satan) the prince of the demons.”
25 Knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, “Any kingdom that is divided against itself is being laid waste; and no city or house divided against itself will [continue to] stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan [that is, his demons], he has become divided against himself and disunited; how then will his kingdom stand? 27 If I cast out the demons by [the help of] Beelzebul (Satan), by whom do your sons drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you [before you expected it]. 29 Or how can anyone go into a strong man’s house and steal his property unless he first overpowers and ties up the strong man? Then he will ransack and rob his house.
The Unpardonable Sin
30 He who is not with Me [once and for all on My side] is against Me; and he who does not [unequivocally] gather with Me scatters.
31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy [every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things] will be forgiven people, but [b]blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan] will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Words Reveal Character
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is recognized and judged by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35 The good man, from his [inner] good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his [inner] evil treasure, brings out evil things.
If you are a satanist and are full of demons, you can be forgiven, and that does not mean that you have sinned against the Holy Spirit.
The passage you have just read begins with Jesus delivering a man from demons, and Mary Magdalene, who had many demons, became a great follower of Jesus.
People use Jesus’ Name as a curse word and say the most terrible things about Him these days, yet He says that they can be forgiven.
MATTHEW 12:32
“Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan], it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.”
However, if you curse or insult God’s Spirit—in other words, the Holy Spirit—it is an entirely different matter according to Jesus.
Jesus knows that there are people who see Him merely as a Jew who lived a long time ago, but God’s Spirit can only be viewed and accepted in one way—or not accepted at all—and that is as God Himself.
Someone who has gone so far as to curse or insult God’s Spirit, as these people did, is not concerned about it, nor will it ever bother them.
They were trained theologians and knew very well that satan would not cast out himself, but in order to achieve their human objective, they said that God’s Spirit was the ruler of the demons. That is why Jesus told them that this is the kind of sin that will not be forgiven.
Of course, this also means that, no matter what happens, such a person will never, ever come to repentance.
These people themselves are proof that this is how it works.
For not only did they eventually crucify the Son of God, but when they discovered that the tomb was empty and that He had truly risen, instead of repenting, they spread a lie throughout the world.
MATTHEW 28:2-4
2 And a great earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone [from the opening of the tomb], and sat on it. 3 The angel’s appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were as white as snow. 4 The guards shook, paralyzed with fear [at the sight] of him and became like dead men [pale and immobile].
MATTHEW 28:11-15
11 While they were on their way, some of the [Roman] guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 And when the chief priests had gathered with the elders and had consulted together [to develop a plan of deception], they gave a sufficient sum of money [as a bribe] to the soldiers, 13 and said, “You say this, ‘His disciples came at night and stole Him while we were sleeping.’ 14 And if the governor (Pilate) hears about it, we will calm him down and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So they took the money [they were paid for lying] and did as they were instructed; and this [fabricated] story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to the present day.
Such a person may even come to you and say, “The Holy Spirit told me to tell you this or that,” in order to persuade you to do something. They make such claims without the slightest concern.
The last thing such a person would ever ask is: “What is sin against the Holy Spirit?”
