WHICH REWARD DO YOU PREFER?

WHICH REWARD DO YOU PREFER?

(Translated from Afrikaans)

Sakkie Parsons

I would like to share with you the following passage from our LORD's precious Word where JESUS instruct us regarding our reward and I place that which come into my heart in blue color in brackets.

MATTHEW 6:1-6

1   "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. (Remember the "love" in charity.  It spans the whole aspect of being human, both physically and psychologically, or then spiritually, and if you do it in your heart, for the sake of that people have to think something of you and they do it then because you wanted it that way, then you preferred that reward.)

2  "Thus, when you give to the needy, (from a smile, to that R100,00 you give someone, do it to show Jesus to the people) sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. (See how friendly or generous I am) Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. (You wanted human reward, well you got it.  You've already been rewarded, with the reward you wanted.  Don't expect another windfall now.)

3  But when you give to the needy,(in whatever way) do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, (Leave the reward you need to receive in the hands of the one who knows best what and how you, His child, should be rewarded.)

4  so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (and this applies to whatever charity in whatever way. – Also in what follows.)

5  "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

6  But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Greetings,
Sakkie
